Eat snails in Cordoba It has become a tradition over the years. The stands or kiosks that are installed in many squares with the snail stew as a star product, announce the arrival of spring, or at least the end of the cold of winter. The snail stands are the perfect excuse to go out and have a beer outdoors, when the good weather “starts to accompany”.
Dates of the snail season
The snail season in Córdoba starts this 2024 on February 23rd and will be open until June. The opening hours are varied according to the positions. There are those that are open from morning to night, also those that open a few hours at noon and especially in the evening, the official time is from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Types of stewed snails
In the stands you can eat snails with broth (the most classic), fat in sauce, picantones, or goats in sauce. These are at least the classics, since there are places where you can try carbonara snails, with pine nuts in sherry, goat fish in oxtail sauce, and even some aphrodisiac snails!
Where to eat snails
As you can see on the map, there are stalls scattered throughout the city. This year 2024 there are more than 30 snail stands scattered throughout the city, from the center to the neighborhoods. The best known are those in the Plaza de la Magdalena, Paseo de La Merced or “Los Patos”. Special mention has the post of Caracoles Noreña, with a great variety of snails, in addition to the traditional and fat ones.
